The concept
An outcome of a thourough local research with the purpose of improving tourist experience in the Danube Delta, this program finally offers cruise passengers the opportunity of having a closer, unforgettable exploration of this UNESCO World Heritage Site – a vital hub for some 300 bird species. Passengers can book small touristic Delta Safari speedboats with a capacity of 8 to 9 pax each, their number being enough to organize at once the Delta Safari for all passengers of a cruise vessel. The boats are piloted by skilled boatmen, Delta natives who have fished in the area since childhood and have experience in taking tourists in the labyrinth of channels, creeks, swamps and lakes. Safety comes first, so before embarking the boats, each guest is equipped with a life vest.
St. George Village as a destination
At the end of the wildest branch of the Danube, St. George, a small picturesque fihermen village has newly become a true highlight of Danube Delta cruising. The growing number of cruise ships docking here over the last years, is also an effect of the development of a DELTA SAFARI exploration concept, tailor-made for cruise ship guests.
The boats
The Delta Safari integrated tour concept consists of brand-new tailor made boats, with special emphasize on safety and enhanced stability. Due to the narrow shape and reduced draught, the DELTA SAFARI boats, can reach the most beautiful parts of the tour, even in very shallow waters. The innovative propulsion system is properly powered to ensure the right speed and has been constructed with special noise dampenin systems, to be able to admire at a reduced distance the birds and protecting the magnificent, yet vulnerable beauty of the nature and local ecosystems.
